Warm welcome and paperwork
You'll be greeted by our front desk team, who will get you checked in. If you didn't complete your forms online ahead of time, we'll give you a few minutes to do that now. We'll also confirm your insurance and answer any initial questions.

Our clinical team will take a full set of digital X-rays, photographs, and - if needed, a 3D iTero scan of your teeth. No gooey impressions. These records let us see your full smile picture and plan treatment with precision.

Our doctor will review your records with you, examine your teeth, jaw, and bite, and explain what they find in plain language. You'll see your own X-rays and scans on the screen. If you have a teen patient with you, we include them in this conversation too, it's their smile.

If treatment is recommended, we'll walk you through your options; braces, clear aligners, or other appliances, and explain the tradeoffs honestly. No single option fits everyone. We'll help you understand which makes the most sense for your situation, lifestyle, and goals.

Our treatment coordinator will review the full cost of your recommended plan, walk through your insurance benefits, and explain our payment plan options. We'll give you a written breakdown before you leave. There is never any obligation to start the same day.

Insurance card
Dental and medical insurance cards if you have them. A photo on your phone is fine.
Recent dental records
Recent X-rays from your general dentist (within the last 12 months), if available. Not required, we'll take new ones.
A parent or guardian
For patients under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present to authorize treatment.

Is the consultation really free?
Yes, completely. Your first visit includes the exam, X-rays, photographs, and a full treatment recommendation at no cost to you. We believe you should be able to make an informed decision before spending a dollar.
Do I need a referral from my dentist?
No referral is required. You can contact us directly to schedule a consultation. That said, if your dentist has referred you, please let us know, we’ll coordinate with their office to share records and keep everyone on the same page.
How old should my child be for their first orthodontic visit?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation by age 7. At that age, your child has a mix of baby and permanent teeth that lets us spot developing problems early, before they become harder (and more expensive) to correct. Early evaluation doesn’t always mean early treatment.
Does orthodontic treatment hurt?
Some soreness after adjustments is normal and typically lasts 2-3 days. Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen help. The discomfort is mild for most patients and decreases as treatment progresses. Modern brackets and wires are gentler than the hardware of 10–15 years ago.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major dental insurance plans and will verify your benefits before your appointment at no charge. Our treatment coordinators will explain exactly what your plan covers and what your out-of-pocket responsibility would be, in writing, before you commit to anything.
