There are many situations in which the current dentition is either failing or missing. Fortunately, many solutions also exist for this problem; one specific method of treatment is called the All-on-4 Treatment Concept. The fixed denture is placed in a complex oral surgery that is performed on patients that have lost a significant amount of teeth either on the top and/or bottom rows of their mouth. The decay and loss of teeth could be due to age, genetics, lack of dental care, or many other factors. Utilizing dental implants, Dr. J. Scott Bobst performs the All-on-4 Treatment Concept to improve your patient’s appearance and to offer a full-arch restoration of a long-lasting, fully functioning set of teeth. In many cases, our patients can have the extractions, implants, and new teeth attached to implants all in the same appointment. This can create an immediate improvement in aesthetics and function.
The numerous benefits of the All-on-4 Treatment Concept include:
- Improved Functionality. Since dental implants are anchored at an angle, the All-on-4 Treatment Concept provides the highest ratio of implant-to-bone contact. This angling technique ensures that the replacement teeth are secure and supported, offering the best long-term functionality.
- Improved Clinical Results. The All-on-4 Treatment Concept is a full-arch replacement that does not require any support of neighboring teeth to cement a bridge or the need for existing teeth to carry the burden of a bridge. The dental implants support the weight and function of the replacement set of teeth, which means no grinding down of healthy teeth as part of the restoration. The All-on-4 Treatment Concept utilizes minimally invasive techniques for implant placement, which offers patients improved clinical results from their treatment.
- Increased Accessibility. The replacement teeth can be attached to the four-implant base within the same appointment. Patients can enjoy the benefits of a new arch of teeth almost immediately!
Who needs the All-on-4 Treatment Concept?
It can be anyone who would like a complete restoration of their existing teeth or who are missing multiple to even all of their teeth. If you have lost most of or all of your teeth, you may be eligible to undergo the All-on-4 Treatment Concept. Many patients who do not qualify to receive other prosthetic options, such as individual implants or a fixed bridge, are still considered candidates for this treatment. At Boise Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, we want to ensure that you receive the best prosthesis that is right for you and will explore all of your options for tooth replacement.
Performing the All-on-4 Treatment Concept With Dental Implants
To begin the All-on-4 Treatment Concept, Dr. Bobst will first have a consultation with you where he will take several X-rays and impressions and gather other information about your condition. Dr. Bobst will use the impressions to create customized and fitted dental implants that will function as healthy durable teeth. Next, Dr. Bobst will extract the remaining decayed teeth to make room for the permanent implants. The implants are inserted into the patient’s mouth and are held, stabilized, and aligned by four or more screws.
Why should I choose the All-on-4 Treatment Concept?
When patients experience widespread tooth loss, they may find it to be difficult to choose an affordable solution that offers a high-quality tooth replacement. Other options like individual dental implants to restore an entire upper or lower arch of teeth can be an extremely expensive process that requires a drawn-out recovery process for the patient. Temporary options, like removable dentures or a fixed bridge, are also options for tooth replacement; however, they tend to break down easily and are not considered long-term solutions. To be properly placed, removable dentures and bridges often rely on the support of adjacent teeth, which typically involves the grinding down of healthy teeth for placement.
Boise Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center offers the All-on-4 Treatment Concept because it provides the immediate return of function with the best possible results. Depending on your individual needs, your procedure can be completed in just one or two surgical visits, reducing the post-surgical discomfort and recovery. If you are interested in finding out if the All-on-4 Treatment Concept is right for you, we encourage you to contact our office in Boise, ID, for an initial consultation.
